Owwwie

My baby has learned how to walk and gets a little too confident at times. This weekend, Max took a nose dive on the driveway (under the care of daddy, by the way). Quite the scrape! He is a little toughie though. Little falls and bumps don't seem to phase him. He is a happy boy and makes me laugh everyday. He's my little cuddler too. LOOOVE HIM! even with a dirty face.

Gettin' Crafty

The crafting bug has hit me pretty hard the last month or so. I blame it all on Pinterest! It's very addicting and incredibly inspiring!
So, my biggest challenge for quite some time has been how to organize all of Bentley's hair accessories. First, they have to be visible. Second, they have to be within arms reach since she uses them everyday. Third, they can't make the space look cluttered! I hate clutter! Fourth, there needs to be some sort of design element. High expectations, right? Well, I love how these both turned out and they were fun to make.
The top one is simply 3 cake pans from the dollar store, 2 candlesticks from the DI and a can of spray paint. Total cost was $5.
The headband holder was something I came up with by selling Paparazzi accessories. I have tons of headbands to display so I rolled up towels, covered them in cute fabric and pinned the sides, top and bottom. No sewing! For Bentley, I simply stuck it over a decorative paper towel holder and voila! a cute way to display those headbands!

Happy Birthday, Max!

I love this Little Man! He is such a character! He makes me laugh every day. He has the funniest facial expressions, loves to imitate all of us, and is into everything (which can be hilarious sometimes). I love his chubbiness! The thighs and arms are fun to squish and his cheeks are irresistible to kiss. He's my little cuddler & I hope this never changes! It's been a fabulous year. Thanks to my friend Jen Wheatley Snarr for taking his one year pictures.

Happy Birthday, Max! We love you!

Bentley competed in her first skating competition this past Saturday. There were four girls in her division and she tied for first with one other skater. She's worked really hard this last year and we are so proud of her. She had quite the cheering crowd, especially at 8:30 am. Thanks for everyone's support. She loves the sport and had a great time performing. Okay, here we go...we're officially in for the 2nd generation of figure skating in our family.

Little Jocelyn and Max--First time campers!Items to remember if I EVER want to take a baby camping again:
1. Naps are out of the question.
2. So are pack n' plays--baby only screams.
3. Watermelon...good!
4. Chances of them being wide awake at 4 am--VERY HIGH.
5. Driving baby around lake at 4:30 am--only option if you want happy campers around you.
6.Sleeping in car off side of road at 5 am...well, it's better than not sleeping at all.

Other items to note:
7. Deep fried fish is the best!
8. Bentley loves watching fish be gutted and cleaned.
9. Walkie-talkies cause kids to fight too much.
10. Somen noodles and musubi's taste awesome on a camping trip.

Gloat Post

$7.14
I always ask people if it's "coo-pon" or "Q-Pon". Well, either way, I'm pretty much convinced that I'm headed to awesomeness. That rush of excitement overwhelms me when I see the dollar amount decline as the checker scans those little pieces of paper! Then I look around to see if anyone is watching so I can show-off how cool I am. Mooooahhhahaha! (funny thing is, nobody really cares!) But I feel cool anyway.

Next step: to find out if the "clipless" method is best or the big binder method. I bought my baseball card pages today. I'm going for it!

RENT

So glad Liz came with me to see PTC's RENT (my absolute fave). I've seen it four times through the years and still love it every time! We had fun laughing, reminiscing and catching up. Good times!

Congrats, Bentley!

Our Miss B looks so grown-up, I can't believe it! This past year she's been on her first competitive dance team. Her little group has done a fabulous job, but more importantly, Bentley's had a lot of fun performing and making friends. Her end of year recital was adorable. Huge thanks to her cheering section for coming out!

Annual Friend BBQ

Friday was our annual BBQ. Since it wasn't quite warm enough to play in the water, Parry's rented a giant slide. Our "kids" photo gets a bit more challenging to snap each year with all the new additions, but it makes for some great entertainment. So grateful for friends--I don't know what I'd do without them.

Lessons Learned

We learned our little man could roll over when he rolled off the bed.
We learned he could pull himself up when he fell out of his crib.
We learned he could climb a step when he lost his balance, fell and started screaming.
We learned he could pull a dining room chair on top of himself when we heard a crash and he started screaming.
We learned the number to poison control when he managed to find the bottle of clorox gel and his hand went straight to his mouth.
Needless to say, the gate's been installed, plugs have been covered, cleaners locked away and drawers latched. What else?

Spring Break

We took a road trip to California (just the three of us) while Max spent the week with Grammy. Bentley's been so great with little guy but we decided she deserved some undivided attention. Ryan and B did a bunch of swimming and "beaching" while I got in some shopping and reading. We hit Legoland and San Diego Zoo then finished off the trip with a surprise visit to the American Girl store in L.A. We ate a lot of good food, had no sleepless nights, had a whole bag of our clothes thrown away by housekeeping, rescued a baby beach squirrel, and managed to get all the way there and back without getting pulled over.

As nice as it was to "va-cay", it was equally nice to come home. Funny--how two opposites can both be just what you need!
